Book Club

Join our book club! AUID Book Club is an opportunity to gather with other members to discuss the books and their intersection with what we do. Book Club meets the third Wednesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. Eastern (3:00 p.m. Central/ 1:00 p.m. Pacific)

Current Book: Wellbeing in Interiors: Philosophy, Design, & Value in Practice by Elina Grigoriou

This book is a practical guide for designers on creating interior spaces that support human health, focusing on the link between design choices and occupant well-being. We encourage members to join even if they don’t buy a book. The discussions we have can be great for our growth in this profession and for connecting with other members.

Book is available for purchase on Amazon or on your Kindle.

If you have any questions about Book Club you can contact Sarah Chapman, Board of Director for the DEI Committee.

DEI Workshop

The work of creating and maintaining diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments can feel like a large mantle to carry. We have budgets, deadlines, and other work stressors on top of personal ones. AUID wants to be there for you and provide support where we can. Keep an eye out for upcoming workshops on different topics that help you navigate this landscape.

Next Workshop: Self-Care Workshop
Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern (3:00 p.m. Central/ 1:00 p.m. Pacific)

Please join this 45minute workshop that covers the topic of self-care. Before one can care for others, they must ensure that they are in a healthy place to start. From the old rule on airplanes that you must put your mask on before helping others, the same applies in many other aspects of life. If you are burnt out, that will impact your ability to help others. If we want to do the work of supporting our communities, then we need to ensure that we are setting a good foundation.

  • Learning Outcomes:
    • Participants will be able to define self-care and understand why it’s important in maintaining personal health.
    • Participants will be able to list the 5 aspects of self-care and develop a self-care plan that addresses each of these aspects.

If you have any questions you can contact Sarah Chapman, Board of Director for the DEI Committee.
